About the Artist

When I walk though the spectrum of natural landscapes and city structures of Vancouver, I often find myself seeing the beauty, and the little odds and sods of the every day life, and I want to know; what would happen if I changed them? What if I made it a colour that’s not expected, or a shape that's not quite 'right?' My work as fatcatmango is about exploring and expressing these ideas in a visual manner, to try to get to the bottom of why I have this need to view something in a slightly odd light, and to see how wonderful or weird I can make things. Colour, shape, and texture are the defining elements of my work, expressed through weaving and painting.

Hello, I’m Heidi Gerrits, aka fatcatmango, a textile artist and painter, raised on a farm in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia, and now living in Vancouver, British Columbia.
